COLCHESTER – McDonough Telephone Cooperative (MDTC) has announced the signing of an agreement to acquire Infobahn Outfitters, Inc. of Macomb, IL.  This acquisition strengthens MDTC's presence in western Illinois and broadens their commitment to locally owned telephone, video and Internet services.

“Infobahn is a strong, well-staffed company,” said MDTC president Bill Buchanan, “and our businesses are a perfect fit.  We’re excited about the growth possibilities that this acquisition will provide for both Infobahn and MDTC and appreciative of the support of our board of
directors.”

Infobahn Outfitters Logo“It's an exciting development for our customers and employees as it brings together two local companies with complementary service areas and core businesses,” says Jeff Calhoun, who has been CEO of Infobahn for the past twelve years.  “It provides the opportunity for true synergy - a company better than the sum of its parts. One benefit I anticipate is in increased redundancy for our services.  Fiber cuts by US 336 road construction crews between Macomb and Carthage have been frustrating for our customers and staff, while MDTC customers haven’t been impacted by them.”

Melissa and Jeff Calhoun, Infobahn’s owners, will remain with the organization after the January 1 ownership change.  Their expertise in Internet and Web Site services will be a benefit to MDTC and its members.  According to the Calhouns, one of the exciting things about the change is that the impact on the customers will be so small.  “The company will continue to operate under the Infobahn Outfitters name.  Our staff will remain in our current office at 716 East Jackson, Macomb. MDTC will stay in its headquarters in Colchester. None of our customers will need to change their email addresses or the phone numbers they call for service.”

Infobahn Outfitters has been a locally owned full-service Internet provider since 1995.  The company has 15 employees and provides broadband (wireless and DSL) and local number dialup Internet.  Their service area includes the western Illinois communities of:
