Earth prime is a campaign set with the Amber Game system inside the Amber universe.
The concept is based off the idea that Amberites and Chaosites have been visiting Earth (our earth) for all of history, and a number of things have come together recently that changes things in such a way that may perhaps shake the foundations of both Amber AND Chaos...
It started when the general reality managed to ride higher then normal... there was ALWAYS something special about earth, tended to attract the various entities or "reality" left and right.. but in this particular case Fiona was experimenting with a concept she had run into on some other shadow... a computer. Once the idea of a computer was implanted in the shadow, of course some local there invented it. In the mean time Fiona had a little experiment running, a program designed to emulate/copy make a holographic image of the Jewel of Judgement. This managed to make Earth even MORE real, and set up what ultimatly happened.
Eventualy something called the "NET" was created. This network of information unbeknownst to any of it creators had many similarities to the Pattern in the Jewel of Judgement. Fiona had abandoned her little construct a long time ago, only to have Lord Mandor of Chaos find it and start playing around with it. His experiments had to do with justifying his theories of the origin of the Jewel itself...and he programed the Logrus into the formula... The rusult crashed the computer and he left it for dead.
Merlin came across it once and repaired the machine, but the significance never hit him and he left it where he found it. It wasn't until Ghoste Wheel came along and decided to attach it to the "NET" to "See what would happen.."
On top of all this the key to Shadow earth had become the depth of the immagination of its denizins.
The amorphous pattern formed itself within the connctions of the internet itself, giveing power to the entire shadow. The pattern in the net surrounds the planet in it complexities, taping and reflecting the collective psych of the population. The theory is that the collective immaginations of the people of earthprime are the source of the shadows that extend from it.
In the "center" of the "Net" is Castle Ember. A utopia conglomerat e shaped by the needs of the Caretaker. This place is in the center of the power of Earthnine, and the mysteries of it are only begining to be understood.
In short, the Source of Power is Earthnine itself. The power is much more then just the net, and can't be turned off even if the internet itself was. The Net is there, and apparently there to Stay.
Only a shape shifter can navigate the Net in such a way as to gain its powers. And even then only a shape shifter who has an Avatar form of Energy, photo electric is prefered. The shape shifter must physically enter the internet with a rider program designed to help him navigate the actual pattern within it. This is in short difficult and very dangerous. To be divided so widely that you will never get yourself together again. Many have tried, few have survived. Those who fail usually find themself in Castle Ember as one of the servents...
By totally engrossing oneself in a book, movie or story created by an Earthling, You the player is transported into that shadow. You can go to any shadow that has been thought of by thousands of Earthlings. The more Earthlings who think about the realm, the easier (faster) it is for you to get there. Once you have arrived at a shadow that you think you might want to return to someday, you can spend 2 hours book marking the shadow. Once a shadow has been book marked, you can return to it at will. Higher psyches can make more shadows accesable to this... requiring less and less minds to make the llink.
Items that are considered standard Earth items can be instantly brought into existence. Other item can be searched for and retrieved, but this can take a very long time. Use the standard "conjuration" rules on how long.
Items summoned on Earth prime are just holograms. However it is possible to make it real as long as the person wth the power of Net who summoned it is concentrating on it. Items summoned in shadows are real though there is no guarentee that it will work.
At any time and any place an initiate of the Net can place a bookmark to allow for return to that location. It takes about 2 hours to lock a local in your mind allowing you to return to that place pretty much at will. There are some disadvantages however. You can only have 10 such bookmarks in your head at anyone time, and sever psychic trauma can erase them from you head.
There is a way to store a bookmark on the web, accessing it takes a few minutes, but it can then be used or placed in your head. Storing a bookmark on the web takes about a week of concentration and programing. Your bookmarks can never be used by others.
Anyone who "Surfs" The Net, is psychically linked to it. Thus anyone of Castle Ember can send e-mail to anyone else who has Surfed The Net. These messages will show up around the recipient. He can choose to ignore them or read them. Should he choose to ignore them and if the sender is persistent and keeps sending them, it could become very annoying.
A direct communication can be open if both parties are willing... and either of the commicators can be used as a bookmark for the other to travel to instantaniosly.
The basic power does not give you the ability to change a shadow. However, with the help of the collective, you have the ability to stabilize and prevent others from changing a shadow.
Magic works in all of Earth Primes shadows. A sorcerer can use The Net to hang spells.
By Invoking the Net, and drawing on the collective thoughts of Earth Prime, you can use the Net to defend yourself against attacks.
There is a room in Castle Ember that contains The Wall of Links. Here the Caretaker has placed direct portals to Shadows of Earth. You might be able to Convince the Caretaker to add a link for a place you would like to visit.
Once you've mastered the Net, it is theoreticaly possible to gain more powers form this source. Exactly how is a mystery as of yet, but the possibility is there.
There are two forms of advance power that can be gained. With either form of this advance power,you are able to enter shadows that the Earth Prime Collective have not yet thought of. This is done by putting in writing a description of the shadow that is desired. If you master both forms of the Advanced Net Interface, then you will be able to create permanant links between worlds.
I. PATTERN IMPRINT EMULATION (25 Points)
With this form of Advanced Net Interface, you are able to manipulate shadow similarly to that of Pattern Imprint. All aspects of Pattern imprint are yours to use at will within the domain of the NET's influence. This can also be traded in for true Pattern imprint if the oportunities are present.
II. LOGRUS MASTERY EMULATION (25 Points)
With this form of Advanced Net Interface, you are able to extend the net outward through shadow to locate and pull to you the object you are searching for. All aspects of Logrus imprint are available to the user as long as he is in the domain of the NET's influence. This can ALSO be traded in for true Logrus imprint if the oprotunities are present. The form that the tendrel take in this case is electricity.
