Vast Fields of Grass and low Brush almost constantly swept by a prevailing wind varying from a breeze to a Gale. Grass of all sorts grow here providing cover for small game and food for the herd Animals that Prevail here. Horses and cattle thrive supporting the local herdsmen.
Here and there you find large deep sinkholes where underground rivers and streams have carved out too much rock, the resulting land drop exposing the waterway to the sun has over the centuries created rich river bank crop land and villages cut into the very rock cliff face exposed when the sink hole fell. Towns and Villages thus dot the plains. Herd Animals above in the wind and villages as well as winter havens down in the giant sink holes averaging a mile or two in length and some 100 feet below the level of the plains.
To the Northeast, paths and roads head to the crossroads on the coast at the eastern edge of the mountain ridges that rise to the North. Other roads in that direction lead to the City of Ember. East lies the coast itself, while to the Southwest stretches the plains as far as the eye can see. To the North lies the spire like Silver tip Mountains.
