Musician at Large

Pete is a Saxophonist and a Keyboard player. (he can play many other instruments but these are his best). On saxophone he specializes in Jazz but is not limited to any style. Seven years of college level "legit" studies, wind ensembles, marching bands and Jazz studio Orchestras fill out his academic performance avenues. For money he has thirteen years of R&B, Blues, Bebop, 50's & 60's Rock and Roll, Jazz, Fusion, Album Rock, Pop, even (ahem) Country.

Pete's Keyboard work started at the age of 3 with formal studies until highschool. He put more stock into playing by ear or creating then he did in formal studies, much to the aggravation of his teachers. Thus he primarily used his piano skills for composition until, about 9 years ago, he was hired to play in a band called Private Enterprise, a 50's & 60's Rock and Roll group out of springfield IL. Most groups he's been in utilize now utilize both his keyboard and Saxophone skills.

Around this time he was continuing his education and participating in the recording with the WIU Jazz Studio Orchestra, Jazz at the Crossroads, as one of the featured soloists. This recording was nominated for a Gramy.

After the break up of Private Enterprise, (the lead singer took off to Nashville without the band), he played in various jazz combo's and Rock bands, and filling in in various groups, while he concentrated on feeding his family. In 1996 he was asked to sit in with a show group from Pioria called Sally Weisenburg and the Famous Sidemen.

He Specializes in Tenor Sax with his key focus on improvisation. On keyboard he uses an Ensonic TS-12 and plays almost exclusively by ear, though he can read music well enough if he has to (miles better then the average gigging musician).

Enough Boring stuff!
